Promoting historic preservation, education, and patriotism.
We Invite You to Become a Member
Shenandoah River Chapter Daughters actively seek new members and opportunities to promote DAR objectives in our community. Our purpose is to perpetuate the memory and spirit of the men and women who achieved American Independence; to promote an enlightened public opinion; and to foster true patriotism, citizenship and love of country.
The National Society, Daughters of the American Revolution was founded in Washington, D.C., on October 11, 1890. Today, the non-profit, non-political Society has over 168,000 members and 3,000 chapters nationwide and around the world. The NSDAR is a volunteer women's service organization dedicated to promoting patriotism, preserving American history, and securing America's future through better education for children.
American patriots fought and sacrificed for the freedoms we enjoy today. As members of DAR, we can continue this legacy by actively supporting historic preservation, promoting education, and patriotic endeavors through participation in the Society’s programs and activities.
DAR Daughters are women of all ages, representing a diversity of professions, talents, and interest. Many DAR members are women who take an active role in their communities promoting DAR objectives of patriotism, education, and historic preservation.
The benefits of DAR membership includes:
1. Promoting American history throughout the year by honoring historically significant places, dates and events.
2. Participating in commemorative events such as Constitution Week, Memorial Day, Flag Day, Veteran's Day and the 4th of July.
3. The satisfaction of active participation in meaningful service projects within our community.
4. Recognizing students with awards and scholarships.
5. Supporting the Constitution of the United States of America, the patriotic values of our country, and the military men and women who serve in the armed forces of our nation.
